Dr. Krishna S Iyer is one of the most renowned pediatric cardiac surgeons in India. He is well-known for his clinical competence and extensive involvement in cardiac care for youngsters. In 1995, at Fortis-Escorts Heart Institute in Northern India, Dr. Iyer established the first dedicated pediatric cardiac care program in the country. He has conducted over 10,000 pediatric cardiac surgeries for congenital heart problems, including arterial switch procedures, double switch operations, TAPVC repairs, Fontan and Fontan type treatments, tetralogy of Fallot corrections, DORV, Truncus treatment, and more.
Dr. Iyer earned his MBBS, MS (General Surgery), and MCh (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery) degrees from New Delhi’s prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He then received his training in pediatric and infant cardiac surgery at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital. Dr. Iyer has more than a hundred research papers published in national and international journals. He’s also written chapters on pediatric and neonatal cardiac surgery for medical literature.

He founded the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Cardiac Society and served as President of the Paediatric Cardiac Society of India. He is a member of the World Congress of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery’s Steering Committee, the World Society of Congenital Heart Surgery’s Board of Directors, and the Asian Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons’ Board of Directors. He was honored to be accepted to join the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons as an international member.
