Prof. Mohamed Rela is regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished surgeons. Over 400 scientific publications and papers on liver transplantation, difficult hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery, and other topics have been published by him. He has done over 4000 liver transplant procedures.

In December 1997, he led a team that successfully transplanted a five-day-old girl’s liver, earning him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2000. She is presently a law student in her early twenties.

He was President-Elect 2021 for the International Liver Transplant Society and is an Executive Council Member, Living Donor Liver Transplantation – Study Group in India.
