Dr. Shashank Shah has over 25 years of expertise in general and laparoscopic surgery, and has completed over 4000 successful bariatric procedures.

He is a pioneering bariatric surgeon in India and one of Asia’s first to do Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy operation. He is credited with operating successfully on the largest British and Asian citizens, weighing 310 kg. He has established India’s first bariatric surgery training centre. In addition, he was given the Limca Book of World Records for completing 45 hernia procedures in ten hours.

In Asia, Dr. Shah pioneered the safest and least invasive obesity surgery, such as sleeve gastrectomy, using sophisticated techniques. He has completed one of Asia’s most extensive series of successful bariatric and metabolic procedures. He is a surgeon who has been accredited by the Surgical Review Corporation, a reputable certification body recognised by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. From 2007 to 2012, he was the only Asian-Indian surgeon asked to report his sleeve Gastrectomy experience at all four International Consensus Summits (ICSSG) held in New York.
